Atkins Diet Tips
What does dieting mean to you? So many people hop on a restrictive diet and then hop off when they can't take anymore. Whatever weight they've lost, they put right back on until it's time to cycle all over again. That's not healthy, and it gets you nowhere. Would you like to get real about losing weight?
Temporarily restrictive diets are much different from persevering through lifestyle changes that with time, become healthy habits. Personally, I've found one particular diet to be helpful in redirecting the way I eat and view food in general.
We don't need all of those fried foods. We don't need all of that sugar. And we don't need all of those starches. People have a misconception about the Atkins Diet. They feel as though this diet is too restrictive, but that's just not the case.
The truth is you can thrive on the best Atkins Diet, with proper planning. There are shakes, sweet treats and all kinds of great recipes. There are even frozen meals that you can enjoy when you just simply don't have the time to cook.
But wait, if you're on the Atkins Diet, you can't eat lasagna, right? And what about pizza, tacos or cake? Allow me to address all four of those foods and tell you how you are able to still enjoy them. Let's start with lasagna.
Diet Tip 1
First, there is a frozen lasagna entree available under the Atkins brand. You can find it at your local supermarket. Second, that same type of meal can be produced in your own kitchen. You can certainly have a delicious low carb lasagna that would make your mouth water.
Now let's talk pizza. On a basic level, you can purchase some low carb tortillas, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Feel free to add any additional toppings you might like on a pizza. You cook those tortilla pizzas in the oven, and they crisp up real fast.
If you want to go a little further, you can make a homemade crust out of almond flour. Or you can make a cauliflower crust. There are also a few frozen versions of the cauliflower crust pizzas available.
The best atkins-diet-reviews recipes are quite tasty. As you can imagine, you're going to use those low carb tortillas to make the tacos you thought you might have to miss out on. Are you starting to see that there really isn't a food you can't eat? You just have to find the healthy alternative, like you would with any diet.
You may be wondering why you should have to find the alternative. It's no secret that the American Diet in worse than ever. If you want to keep eating stuffed crust pizzas, double stuffed oreos, fried chicken and everything tossed in gravy, by all means, go right ahead.
The fact of the matter is, however, that discipline must be attached to your dietary habits. And the Atkins Diet is the absolute best way to do that while helping you make actual lifestyle changes. If you are eating happily and not pursuing an extremely restrictive diet, you're more likely to stick with what you're learning, right?
One thing you will learn when you are on the Atkins Diet is that you need your sources of dietary fiber. The best Atkins Diet bars are one great source of dietary fiber for you. They are packed with essential nutrients, and the best part is they are delicious.
One of my personal favorites is the triple chocolate bar. It is just as good as if you were eating a Snickers, Kit Kat or any other candy bar loaded with sugar, except this chocolate bar is Atkins approved.
As with any diet, there are going to be challenges that you face. That is why it is important to educate yourself about your options. Nuts make for great snacks. But what happens if you get to movie night and you want some chips and dip?
You're actually going to find that there are a ton of dips available that are either one or two carbs per two tablespoons. Granted, most people aren't going to eat a couple of tablespoons and be done with the dip. Yet that ratio allows you to eat more then one serving and still be fine on the carbs.
What about the chips? My first suggestion isn't everyone's cup of tea. Chicharones are technically fried pork skins. They are zero carbs. Hey, I used to not like them either, but they taste in some ways like a fluffy cheeto. They are also quite popularly sold in most every grocery store.
Chicharones are available in different flavors, too. I urge you to test them out with dips. And another great option is Parmesan crisps. These crisps are delicious. They are the better, but more expensive alternative. Plus, if you eat them, you will find yourself wanting more dip than chips. While they are delicious, most people find that they can only handle a certain amount of the crisps in one setting.
That can actually be a good thing if you think about it though. It's not easy to put down the chips and dip during a movie! Have those snack bars ready, too, and think about all the great sugar-free candy that is out there these days.
The shakes that the Atkins brand puts out are also delicious and packed with vitamins and nutrients. The truth is that in order to thrive on the Atkins Diet, you just have to know enough about what to do. Last night, our family had filet mignon, sauteed asparagus, bacon wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese.
That meal was lacking nothing. We also barbecued chicken on the grill the other day. Tonight, we are having quesadillas with all the trimmings. We are using the low carb tortillas of course.
